FEBRUARY NEWS : SDLT VISIT PARLIAMENT!

#SouthDownsLearningTrust took a visit to parliament this month, and what a memorable visit it was! As a school community we have always been very well supported by Caroline Ansell MP our local MP. Caroline has visited our #TeamOcklynge learners on a few occasions, and on a particularly memorable visit, spent time congratulating our learners for taking part in the Eastbourne school's story writing competition (of which one of our (#TeamOcklynge learners won, and we had a runner up too). Caroline was also instrumental in action and voice last year when it came to raising the importance of children battling cancer, being able to obtain their examination grades (the student at the time was the lovely Lara, who Caroline rallied support for locally; for her and her family). The impact of this issue being raised has meant change for not just Lara, but for all children across the country and is something that we are all most grateful for. In short, we've always felt very well supported by Caroline and her office and, as an ex-teacher herself, have been able to really connect over matters within education. Thank you Caroline. It was wonderful to join you, amongst other lovely Eastbourne residents, and watch you in action. A fascinating day and tour, and one we shall not forget. Our #TeamRatton learners held their #ParliamentDay recently (post to follow on their platforms), and will also be visiting the Houses of Parliament very soon! A great day trip if you can manage it. See you again soon Caroline Ansell MP and thank you again, for the tour and for your unwavering support.
